Meet Parishaut Kanhe

Our speaker introduced by Marion Gilliland was Parishaut Kanhe from Nagpur, India known as Pari. He was a Rotary International Youth Exchange Program Student. He is attending John Glenn High School. His brother had been here before and went to Zanesville High School. Nagpur has orange farms and many statues and is dead center of India. AJ Patel made him Indian food weekly so that he would not miss Indian food. AJ was a host family for his brother. He joined Choir and Band because his goal is to become a music composer or producer. He enjoyed visiting cities on the East Coast including Washing DC, New York City, Boston, and Gettysburg. Snow was his first experience. He met monthly with the other 13 exchange students with our district.

Past President Robert England introduced today’s speaker – The son of former Zanesville Rotarian Jack Joseph and Grandson of former Zanesville Rotarian Art Joseph – Noah Joseph is in his fourth season at Indiana University.

 

Dr. Chad Brown, president of Zane State College (ZSC) presented our program

Dr. Brown has presided as president since 2015, and is also a member of Daybreak Rotary. He did comment that we are the first club to ask him to present at a meeting.

He spoke on the crisis we have with state education across the country. Our national goal is to have a 60% graduation rate, but our area is at 25%, with ZSC at 35%. In light of this, ZSC is striving to be nimble and shift to meet the needs of the community with the following:

Rotarians Lean About the Revaluation Process for Real Estate

Debra J. Nye, Muskingum County Auditor explained the revaluation process required every six years by Ohio law that is currently being conducted on all Muskingum County Real Estate for the 2018 tax year. These new values will be reflected on your real property tax bill payable in 2019.
